Music
Chancel Choir
The members of the Chancel Choir are the Lead Worshippers for the 10:55 a.m. service every Sunday. This group, diverse in background and age, rehearses August to June on Wednesday evenings in the Choir Room (114) at 7:30 p.m.. Although singing qualifications are certainly not required, most members of the choir have previous experience in a music (vocal or instrumental) ensemble. The primary requirements for membership are a love for Jesus Christ, a servant’s heart, and a desire to use music as a tool for Worship.
Chancel Ringers
The Chancel Ringers form the primary adult handbell ensemble at St Paul. This group traces its beginnings to the first set of handbells purchased by the church in 1968. Over four decades later, they have developed their skills and musicianship and shared their music across the state in the name of Christ. They rehearse on Mondays at 5:30 p.m., September through May, and participate in worship three to four times per semester.
Basic bells
Basic Bells introduces handbell techniques and methods to beginning adult handbell ringers. No experience is necessary: on the job training is provided! Please contact Adam Samuels to see if the class is being offered.
Children’s Music
4 year-olds through 5th graders rehearse on Wednesday evenings during the school year 6:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., in conjunction with adult classes. They work on beginning musicianship skills, vocal technique, handbell/handchime technique, and worship participation skills using literature, techniques, and resources appropriate to their age level. The children’s ensembles present music regularly in worship and also prepare for major music ministry programs in the fall and spring.
small ensembles
Instrumental soloists and small ensembles regularly contribute to the spirit of worship at St Paul. A minimum of three years experience is suggested for participation in worship services and music ministry events.
